NOIDA, September 23, 2010: The Students of Genesis Global School celebrated “Commonwealth Games Day” at the School today. Shera, the Mascot of the Games paid a visit to the School and children enjoyed in the Company of the Mascot.

Shera distributed sweets and chocolates to children along with music and dance festivities. A film on CWG was screened for the Children on the Basis of which a quiz competition was organized for them.

The Final phase of training of the Indian Netball Team, in preparation for the Upcoming and prestigious Commonwealth Games, Delhi 2010, has come to an end. The Team had been undergoing coaching at the Multipurpose Hall of Genesis Global School, Noida since March’10. The Children, teachers and staff of the School, apart from flower showering, hosted a special tilak and garlanding ceremony as a warm send off for the Team.

Mr. Gurbir Singh, President, Netball Federation of India expressed his appreciation and satisfaction over the Team’s readiness for the Games. He enunciated that Genesis had displayed exceptional organizational preparedness for the Training of the Team. In the Farewell speech he said, “I am extremely elated to see the Outcome and prowess of the Team which had exemplary coaching conditions at the Sports infrastructure of Genesis which meets international standards.”

Guest of Honour, Mr. Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, the 1st Arjuna Award winner of India who participated in the Tokyo Olympics 1964 and was nominated Asia’s Best Athlete during Asian Games (1962), applauded the Infrastructure and said, “I am extremely elated to see the Sports infrastructure of Genesis which meets international standards. It’s commendable that individual institutions like Genesis are contributing to sports which require a boost from all quarters. The Netball Team of India has been fortunate to have a great training facility. It would be a blessing for the Students of the School to be able to utilize such a facility and I hope more children would be inclined towards sports and help generate sportspersons of international level.”

Mr. Pramod Sharma, the Director and Principal said, “We are very proud and happy to have the National women’s Netball team at out school for coaching. This has been our contribution to the Prestigious Commonwealth Games. We wish the Team all the Very best and hope they turn out to be the Champions at the Forthcoming games. We feel that the Netball coaching has stimulated an interest in sports amongst our students and we hope to groom many more future champions.”

As the Countdown begins, sports persons can feel the Pressure of upcoming Commonwealth Games with every passing day. After being allotted the Biggest opportunity, the School had put in every effort, to host the Camp in a grand way and help the Team to hone its talent.
