Kindergarden Level 1

Our Kindergarten Level 1 Programme- Building Foundations for Lifelong Learning  combines play-based, hands-on learning with inquiry-driven exploration, fostering creativity, collaboration, and a deep understanding of key concepts across literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning.

Literacy: Unlocking the Power of Language

Kindergarten students delve into advanced literacy concepts through engaging, interactive activities that make learning both fun and meaningful:

  • Digraphs and Blends: Using letter tiles, children form digraphs and blends, building strong phonics foundations.
  • Sentence Structure: Students create sentences with picture cards and bring stories to life through skits and role-play.
  • Grammar: Exploring nouns, action verbs, and prepositions, children sort objects, act out verbs through dance or movement, and play games like “Simon Says” to understand prepositions in a lively way.

These immersive activities spark creativity, encourage teamwork, and deepen comprehension, setting the stage for confident communication and expression.

Numeracy: Exploring Numbers and Beyond

Numeracy concepts are brought to life through hands-on, interactive experiences that make math both accessible and enjoyable:

  • Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers: Children count using toys or counters and explore ordinal positions through activities like racing toy cars.
  • Number Relationships: Games like “Number Bingo” and activities comparing greater/lesser quantities strengthen numerical understanding.
  • Shapes and Data Handling: Students hunt for 2D and 3D shapes, build with blocks, create artwork, and practice sorting and graphing objects like buttons or fruits.
  • Measurement and Patterns: Children measure objects using non-standard units like cubes and create patterns using beads, blocks, and stickers.

These dynamic activities foster problem-solving, logical thinking, and a love for math, all while linking concepts to real-world applications.

Units of Inquiry (UOI): Exploring the World Through Inquiry

Our UOI programme invites children to investigate and connect with the world around them:

  • Community: Through role-play, children explore the roles of community helpers, fostering an understanding of societal structures.
  • Celebrations: Students learn about cultural traditions by organizing and participating in class celebrations.
  • Plants: They explore the interdependent relationship between humans and plants, nurturing an appreciation for nature.
  • Natural Materials: Sensory activities with materials like wood, clay, and stone deepen their understanding of the world’s resources.

By promoting curiosity, creativity, and meaningful connections, our UOI curriculum empowers students to think critically and engage with the world in thoughtful ways.

A Holistic Approach to Learning

Kindergarten Level 1 offers a dynamic blend of literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-driven learning that inspires children to explore, imagine, and grow. Our programme lays a strong foundation for academic and personal success, preparing young learners for the next steps in their educational journey.
