The Practice series between Indian and Bank of Ceylon’s (Women) Netball team commenced at NOIDA today. The 3 match series will be played at Multi Purpose Hall of Genesis Global School on 3rd and 4th August’10.
This international exposure match shall help the Indian Netball team to get adequate and valuable exposure of international standards. The Indian team has been regularly practicing at the Multi Purpose Hall of Genesis Global School with required assistance and support from school’s management as this is the Only team sport ever designed for women to play. As the Team is gearing up for the Commonwealth games, this series shall yet again make sure to provide necessary assistance to the Selectors to judge the Improvements that the Team has made in past few months.
Mr. Gurbir Singh, President of Netball Federation of India said, “Netball is a core sport in the Commonwealth Games and has been part of the Programme since the Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. We are preparing our Women’s team to excel in the Game and we are not leaving any stone unturned to train and guide our girls. This series is a step in the Same direction and we feel that this exposure will help them to develop dexterity, agility and expertise required for participation in international level matches.”
Today’s match saw the Indian Netball team’s victory over its competitor – Bank of Ceylon (Colombo, Srilanka) with a score of 87/44.
