as Genesis Global School celebrates : Conquest of Everest or the Self?
“Genesis Conversations”, a literary activity aimed at academia-celebrity discussion commenced a conversation with the Boys from The Lawrence School, Sanawar who have set the World record for being the First school team to achieve arguably mountaineering’s toughest feat after scaling Mount Everest on May 21, 2013. The Team comprised of six students, Prithvi Singh Chahal, Fateh Singh Brar, Guribadat Singh Somal, Ajay Sohal, Shubham Kaushik and Raghav Joneja, all students of Class X to XII. Raghav Joneja became the Youngest Indian to have scaled Everest, at 15 years and seven months.
The Candid discussion with these students on various life and career dimensions, gave an opportunity to the Students and faculty of Genesis Global School to interact with them and derive inspiration. The Boys drew standing ovations and compliments from across the Hall. All the Team members have been awarded with ‘A’ alpha grades in basic as well as advance mountaineering courses by Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling.
The Event was moderated by Mr. Gurbir Singh the Director (Sports) who is himself an Olympian shooter, Arjuna Awardee and an old student of The Lawrence School, Sanawar. He was thrilled with the Way the Event was appreciated by all. He said “I am so happy to have moderated the Talk as these young children are real Champions; having climbed the Highest peak at this age, these boys have made a mark for everyone to follow. They have made us all proud. It is a unique and satisfying experience as a sportsman”.
