Exams and assessments are an important part of academics. Students all over the world study and work hard to score well in assessments. A small amount of pressure will help you boost your performance but too much stress for a longer period of time can ruin your preparation and performance. Here are some simple tips that you should keep in mind and follow during exams this time.
Make A Schedule
Working without any goal will never give you the desired result. So make a goal, try to reach it by making a schedule. Every scholar is different and so are their study habits. So draft your own schedule, based on your needs and study style. Do not be too harsh on yourself as it will be an unsuccessful idea. Maintain the consistency and work hard on your weaker areas. Also, indulge yourself into some extra activities to de-stress yourself. Do not cheat yourself, your schedule determines your success. Work hard and focus on your goals and achieve them.
Understand Your Strengths and Weaknesses
Working hard only on areas at which you are already an expert and ignoring the areas in which you are weak will affect your results. Everybody has their own favorite subjects and some subjects in which you are weak. For example, you might be strong in language and literature but not in mathematics. While you are preparing for exams, it is very important to focus and concentrate on every subject. Devote time on areas in which you are strong but spend more time on areas in which you are not as strong. Scoring well in some subjects and scoring less in some subjects will hamper your overall score.
Revision Is The Must
While you are studying, it is very important to read, revise and repeat. Every time you read you understand the topic better, you can easily catch the required keywords and you also get to note the errors and identify your weaker areas. When you are finally ready and completely finished the topic. Revision is the must without proper and efficient revision, the entire effort will seem wasted because many a time you are not able to recollect efficiently during the examination. Once you have completed the syllabus, it is suggested to continuously stay in revision mode until the assessment, in order to recall all the important points.
Take A Break
When you are studying or preparing for your exams it is not compulsory to study every hour of the day. It is important to work hard and prepare well for your exams but being too harsh to yourself is not going to be productive nor healthy. Your body and mind need rest after exertion. Too much stress can hamper your performance so work hard but with a regular break so that your body and mind can relax and you can rejuvenate your energy and work hard with more zeal.
Eat Healthily
While you are preparing for exams good nutritious diet is a must. During exams, you are often so stressed that healthy diet slides down the priority list. It is very important to eat healthily and a balanced diet because it energizes your system, improves your alertness and help you sustain through a long exam and assessment hours. A balanced diet maintains health both physically and mentally. And a state of good health allows you to stay calm, relax and focused during exams.
Take a Nap
A power nap is a remarkably potent tool for students who are preparing for exams. A short power nap between the hectic studying schedule will refresh your body and brain, and will also keep you alert and promotes a positive frame of mind, and thereby improves concentration. A power nap also boosts cognitive function and enhance the brain’s ability to absorb information.
Regular physical activity
Exercise or Yoga is an effective de-stressing tool during the pre-examination time. Exercise helps in improving memory and thinking abilities by increasing oxygen flow to the brain. It’s rather easy to forget to exercise your body, in the midst of all the mental exertion, but it is important as physical exercise boosts brain function in a variety of ways. An early morning exercise or Yoga session increases your focus for the rest of the day. It is important to have a regular physical activity because a healthy body means a healthy mind.
By following these simple steps you can prepare better for your exams and focus on your goals.
