India’s top shuttler and Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal was in the Capital on 12th July 2013 to kick start“Shuttle Express” which witnessed its first match at the School premises.

The 3 day affair witnessed inter school competitions amongst students from various schools of Delhi/NCR. The Lucky winners will play the Finals during the Upcoming Indian Badminton League.

Speaking during the Event, Olympic medalist and Indian shuttle queen Saina Nehwal said, “This is a great initiative by a League who has taken it on oneself to promote the Game amongst youngsters which will boost the Sport to the Next level in India. We all know that badminton is the Most loved game amongst everyone but to dream about making a career in the Game is yet to be instilled amongst youngsters today. This initiative by BAI and Sporty Solutionz to identify talent amongst school children is a big step as this will help in grooming the Children from a very nascent stage”.

Shuttle Express – The Run-up event to the Grand IBL which took place on the 12th of July 2013 was meant to promote the Sport in schools and nurture the Future badminton stars of our country. Indian Badminton League School Program commenced from 12th July and the NCR finals took place on 13th & 14th July, 2013 in the School premises itself.

Speaking on organizing the “Shuttle Express”, Mr. Gurbir Singh, Director, Sports & Estates, Genesis Global School said, “This is a great opportunity for the School to host a pan-India tournament of such huge calibre. We are delighted and looking forward to welcome the Future stars in the Making, of the Celebrated sport – badminton in our school. Being organized for the First time in India by the Badminton association of India, IBL is a franchise-based badminton tournament created on the lines of the very successful ‘Hockey India League’, which will feature the Top badminton stars of the World playing for the Six franchise teams in Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS :

Four students 2 boys & 2 girls of Genesis Global School Participated in IBL Shuttle Express, Badminton Tournament out of which Porramet (Nin) class 9 entered in finals and secured Runner- up position.

He is also selected to represent Delhi for finals in Mumbai.
Dravit Gupta and Mansi Gupta lost their matches in 1st round Rashi Tyagi lost in Pre-Quarter-final.
1. Porramet (NIN) =Runner-up Qualified for finals in Mumbai.
2. Rashi Tyagi = Played Pre-quarters
3. Dravit Gupta = 1st round
4. Mansi Gupta = 1st round.
